I put these on my 70's Fender stratocaster and they've got a very warm, deep tone to them. They provide an excellent range of tones as well, on the bridge pickup they can be very bright without getting too "twangy", perfect for rock and metal. On the neck pickup they are very mellow and warm sounding; perfect for blues or jazz. They sound great in just about any tuning from E, Drop D, and even Drop C and alternate tunings are fun; and because they're much thicker than the average string they're much more comfortable on your fingers and they bend like butter so you can play longer and have more fun! It's worth mentioning though that you'll most likely have to reset the bridge(raise the action) of your guitar to accomidate the brute girth of these strings as they may rub on your frets a bit and they also make it more difficult to harmonic on; put if you're an experienced player it shouldn't... I strung them up but had a hard time tuning the guitar. Every time I got the higher strings in tune, the lowers would go down as much as a half note. It took awhile to realize that my floating bridge was coming off the body as I tightened the strings. So I pulled the back plate off my strat and set to off tighten down the the tensions screws. I made about 5 adjustments each time retuning the guitar to check my progress. The final time I tightened them down, the high E string broke.
