They are premium quality shoes, comparable to any pair from Allen Edmonds, Cole Hahn, etc. The comfort level of these shoes is beyond any other dress shoe that I have ever worn. I believe that the comfort of this shoe comes from the supple leather that is used in construction, along with a very lightly padded lining that provides cushioning to the top and sides of your foot. They also have a quality sole made with leather and rubber for a classic look, yet comfortable fit and wear. The shoes still look great, maybe even better than when I bought them. These shoes that I bought in 2006 were made in Romania.Fast forward to today: I recently bought a black pair of these shoes and they arrived today. They are better shoes than most of the premium Cole Haan and Allen Edmonds shoes that I have seen, and they sell for half what Allen Edmonds shoes routinely cost. The quality Italian leather uppers will quickly mold to your foot shape and feel like slippers on your feet. The soles have rubber inserts for traction and durability. When I first got them, I loved how comfortable and sharp looking they were. When ever I don't have them on, they have cedar shoe trees in them to help them last longer. Fast forward 2 years, I've worn them primarily to work (3-4 time a week)and the upper is still in great shape (thanks to the cedar shoe trees) but the sole is completely smooth and has cracked on both shoes below the ball of my foot. I don't abuse these and for $150, I would expect the sole to last more than 2 years. My Rockport Reserve Toe Cap shoes I've had for 6 years are much better shoes than these. In comparison to my Allen Edmonds, there is none. The A&E is a far superior shoe than my J&M, not sure what others are thinking when they say these are better or as good. Granted, A&E are about double the price, but I got my pair from Amazon's outlet 50% off. I will not be buying another pair of the Hardings. |
